As the most comprehensive site for both information and tours of Shikoku, Shikoku Tours, the site managed by Japan Inbound, is an obvious choice for local companies to advertise and increase their inbound potential.
Sake sommelier and educator
Rod Walters of Japan Inbound is a Sake Sommelier and Educator accredited by the Sake Sommelier Association. In this role he’s conducted courses for people from around the world about sake. This has included classroom lessons in a catering school, and visits to sake breweries during brewing season. Charter Yacht Cruise
Since last year, Japan Inbound has been working with Kirk Patterson on a plan for a cruise tour for foreign visitors using a chartered catamaran. In the middle of March, the first tour took place. Tourism reporter seminar
In 2016, Japan Inbound conducted a seminar on writing and photography for foreign tourism reporters, in Ritsurin Garden, Takamatsu. The seminar was part of a project run by the Shikoku Transport and Tourism Bureau.
New menu tasting event
In January, Japan Inbound participated as a consultant in the project by the Ehime Ryokan Association to develop a new menu that will appeal to foreign visitors. A tasting event was held in March. The chefs of ryokan hotels from all over Ehime gathered at a catering school in Matsuyama to prepare the new menus developed with advice from Japan Inbound. Continue reading “New menu tasting event”
Foreigner-friendly menu for Ehime
Study meetings to develop a menu suitable for foreign visitors to Ehime were held on Jan 12 in Dōgo and Jan 15 in Uwajima. It was held by the Ehime Ryokan Association for managers and chefs.
Matsuyama photo-haiku branding
Matsuyama City and JTB are currently running a project to brand Matsuyama as a city of haiku. Rod Walters of Japan Inbound is providing various consulting and coordination services to JTB.
Local tour development
On December 10, a model tour was held by Ehime Prefecture and Matsuyama City government, in cooperation with the Ehime International Tourism Support NPO operated by Japan Inbound. The NPO planned and implemented the tour for foreign nationals, focusing on the history and culture of the Kōno Clan who were based in Hōjō. Japan Inbound’s Rod Walters served as guide and interpreter.
Inbound website for Nishi-Awa
Recently, the Nishi-Awa Tourism Area issued a request for proposals for a new English-language website. The RFP specified a website with a focus on story-telling to appeal to independent travelers.
Content research and creation
In 2015, Japan Inbound worked with a number of agencies in Japan to produce text and image content to promote inbound tourism.
